Randy Emert is the Design, Innovation, Research, and Technology (DIRT) Lab Manager for the Civil Military Innovation Institute at the Fort Stewart, Georgia, Marne Innovation Center which supports the US Army DEVCOM Pathfinder program. Since May of 2022, Randy has worked closely with the 3rd Infantry Division Innovation Team to stand up a makerspace that receives and develops Soldier ideas. This has resulted in three recent winners to the XVIII Airborne Corps Dragons Lair Competition. Randy brings 30 years of engineering design and manufacturing experience from industry as well as academia to this new role. In industry he worked with truck chassis, diesel engine pistons, street sweepers, and turbines. In academia he setup a rapid prototyping lab for industry and medical applications at Clemson University, founded and directed the Kennesaw State University 3D Center, and developed a university wide 3D printing network that reached multiple colleges. As a result, Kennesaw State University was honored by the Technology Association of Georgia for its 3D Printing Ecosystem with the “Digital Transformation” award in February 2022.
