Graduate Research Assistant
Ralf Fischer started his career in research on additive manufacturing as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen, Germany, in 2015. He graduated in April 2017 as a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. His final project covering the influence of corrosion on the thermal conductivity of thermal barrier coating was written at Auburn University.
After a brief semester in Germany as student for industrial engineering, he moved back to Auburn, AL, to work in the Additive Manufacturing Research group under Dr. Prorok. He received his Master of Materials Engineering degree in May 2019 and continued as a PhD student in the same research group.
