Alex is a product development engineer at VA Puget Sounds Health Care System in Seattle, WA, and is working with the Office of Advanced Manufacturing, a national program office which provides resources, policies, and governance for point of care manufacturing for veteran patient matched medical devices. Alex is currently developing digital design and manufacturing tools for VA O&P clinicians to support the development of new O&P devices. Prior to his role as a product development engineer, Alex was a research engineer at the Center for Limb Loss and MoBility (CLiMB) where he collaborated with clinicians to develop novel devices and testing fixtures to promote biomechanics research, soft tissue mechanical analysis and simulation, and custom instrumentation. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex was part of a team that developed a PAPR hood which received NIOSH emergency use authorization and contributed to a 3D printed face mask design which has been evaluated by the Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories at the FDA.
