Conference Abstract: Directed energy deposition (DED) is an additive manufacturing technology that can be used not only to build parts, but also to repair existing components that have been worn or damaged. During this presentation, a case study will be presented for a NAVAIR component that was repaired utilizing FormAlloy‘s DED technology. The process involves the ability to rapidly repair components with a similar material and the utilization of data to assist with the qualification process. Results from testing as well as data utilized for the qualification process will be shared.
