The presentation will discuss why 3D printing is of value to dentistry, how 3D printing additive manufacturing works, and what are the benefits of 3D printing to a GP practice. Intraoral digital scanning is the key that opens the door to 3D printing and this presentation will review how intraoral digital scanning works, why it is of value to dentistry and what its value is to a dental practice. The three primary benefits of 3D printing are: 1) Accurate, virtually unbreakable models that can be used multiple times to replace the “Dark Ages” of gypsum models; 2) 3D-printed, highly accurate guided surgical guides; and 3) 3D-printed provisionals. The presentation will discuss the benefits of 3D printing to everyday dental practice and its value to help elevate the level of care to our patients.
