In aerospace, particularly within the Air Force, the demand for additive manufacturing of obsolete and low-volume parts is growing as legacy platforms remain in service longer. However, a critical bottleneck exists: generating Technical Data Packages (TDPs), which document essential specifications and compliance data. For aging aircraft with limited parts availability, delays in TDP creation directly impact fleet readiness and the feasibility of transitioning these parts to additive manufacturing.

Authentise, in collaboration with Boeing, has deployed ThreadsDoc, an AI-driven tool that automates TDP generation using data from engineering workflows, reducing TDP creation time by up to 150 hours per part. In this session, we will discuss challenges, successes, and key learnings from this initial deployment, emphasizing ThreadsDoc’s potential to streamline legacy part production, sustain aerospace assets, and ensure mission readiness for platforms facing part scarcity. This presentation showcases how AI in TDP creation is key to unlocking additive manufacturing for long-tail aerospace parts, opening new avenues to meet demand and maintain readiness
