Richard graudated with an Honours Degree in Metallurgy from Sheffiled University in 1987, and completed his PhD in 1994 while working full time at Collins Aerospace Actuation Division in the UK. He is a Charterd Enginner and Fellow of the Instute of Materials in the UK. He joined PRI in 2021 after 25 years working at TWI in the UK, rising to the position of Associate Director. At PRI he is the Lead Staff Engineer for the Additive Manufacturing & Metallic Materials Manufacturing Task Groups in the Nadcap aerospace industry managed program. He also sits on the SAE AMS AM committee for metallic AM development, and on the ISO/ASTM TC261 Joint Working Group 10 additive manufacturing committee.
