PhD student
Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Lab (MSAM), University of Waterloo
Ali is a PhD student at the Multi-scale Additive Manufacturing Lab (MSAM), University of Waterloo, with a deep focus on Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) since 2017. During his MSc, he investigated the anisotropic behavior of Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) processed IN718, laying a strong foundation in understanding material behavior in AM. Ali has also contributed to several industry-driven Metal AM projects, where he developed his expertise in laser material processing, alloy development, and post-processing optimization for various alloy systems fabricated by LPBF. Currently, in his PhD, Ali is pioneering research on the development of high-strength aluminum alloys, aiming to control solidification behavior, process optimization, and tailor material properties for LPBF.
