Dr. Dennis Butcher is the Lead for Additive Manufacturing of Composites for Limited Life Aircraft Structures, Air Force Research Laboratory, Structural Materials Division, Composites Performance and Applications Section. In this role, Dennis leads development efforts to mature additive manufacturing materials and processes for application to attritable platforms. As program manager for the Printed Composites for Attritables and Rapid Deployables (PiCARD) program, Dennis leads a multi-disciplinary team with the objective of lowering the mission cost by 30% to conduct a notional ground targeting mission in a peer adversary denied environment. Prior to this role, Dennis served as the Government Program Manager for America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute in the AFRL Manufacturing and Industrial Technologies Division. Dennis supported the America Makes mission to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing in the US industrial base by managing the government relationship with America Makes, socializing the Institute among government SMEs and acquisition offices, streamlining the ability of agencies to contract with America Makes and its members, and providing technical and programmatic oversight.
