John Wentz, Technology Lead at Temple Allen Industries, first developed the EMMA cable-driven compliant manipulator for nuclear waste retrieval operations under contract to NIST, Lockheed Martin Hanford, and other Dept. of Energy contractors. EMMA development since 2003 has focused on composite aircraft and part surface preparation operations, both military and commercial. Temple Allen has, under John’s leadership, conceived, refined, and delivered next-generation sanding equipment to, among others, Boeing, Airbus, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Gulfstream, Embraer, Bombardier, and the US Air Force and Navy. John oversees all aspects of the design of EMMA’s Smart Automation, Machine Learning, and AI products. He also consults regularly with senior technical personnel across the industry to maintain the best possible understanding of surface treatment market requirements.
