Robert Martinsen joined nLIGHT in 2004 where he currently serves as the company’s Chief Technology Officer. He has been responsible for nLIGHT's laser business in additive manufacturing since 2016. Prior to joining nLIGHT, Rob was Director of Product Development for the Semiconductor Business Unit of Coherent in Santa Clara, CA and has held engineering management positions at United Technologies Optical Systems and Honeywell Space & Strategic Avionics. His career has been dedicated to the development of lasers and high-power laser optics for over 30 years and is credited with more than 40 issued patents. Rob received his BME degree from the State University of New York Maritime College and has earned Master's degrees in engineering from the University of Virginia and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
