Andrew R. Gifford, Ph.D. leads the Process Development & Sensors Functional Group within the University of Maine's Advanced Structures and Composites Center in Orono, ME. He is a multi-disciplinary research and development engineer focused on advanced manufacturing using sustainable and bio-based materials. His extensive background in the marine industry is enabling the industry wide adoption of large format additive manufacturing (LFAM) and hybrid manufacturing techniques for fully recyclable composite tooling, end-use marine parts, and floating marine structures. Andrew received his B.S. in Physics from Saint Vincent College, M.S. in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from the George Washington University NASA Langley Research Center JIAFS Program, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. Andrew is also co-founder of Circular Composite Technologies, LLC.
