The talk describes a non contact coating method, which is being used to apply a complete coated structure on to a surface like a ridgid or flexible substrate. The resin being coated can have viscosities in the range of 1 to 30.000 mps and will form a layer from a few nanometers to millimeters in thickness. The discrete coating process takes place and will be cured by heated air o isr crosslinked by UV, depending on the chemistry being used. To build up the layers faster two slot dies are used at the same time, performing a continous coating and curing process. This means the whole area is build up very quickly and as each layer can use different chemistry, the purpose is not only adding layer thickness, it is also adding functionallity to the layer by using for egzample conductive inks.
The overall area being coated can be very large, so the approach is much faster than extrusion or other nozzle prozesses. The finished product is then laser scribed to open up the different functions in the product layers.
