There have been a number of fatigue studies of AM materials, including Ti-6Al-4V ELI. However, these fatigue studies have not investigated the effect of multi-axial loading on fatigue life. This studies seeks to understand how multi-axial loading affects the fatigue life when AM technology (EBM vs. DMLS) and print orientation are taken into account. The audience will gain a better understanding of how their technology selection and build decisions can affect the fatigue performance of their parts as well as will be able to better design AM components to survive complex fatigue loading. While the study comes from a medical device perspective, multi-axial loading could occur in aerospace and automotive application as well.
